Bates has a great education/training program. I-Car training and ASE Certifications are preferred, but not required at time of hire if applicant has adequate experience and references. Although, certifications must be obtained within 1 year of hire date-company arranges and pays for all training. Need to be enthusiastic, professional individual that is safety and quality conscience.


Job Description

Job Summary:

Assists in repairing accident related damage to vehicles, restoring them to pre-collision condition. Bates Collision Center Technician Helpers are essential to the repair process and must be able to perform quality repairs in a timely matter, always keeping the customers satisfaction & safety in mind.


Essential Functions:

  1. Performs quality repairs; while keeping in mind on-time status;
  2. Assist lead body tech in examination of vehicle & work closely with Bates Estimator to plan necessary repair process;.
  3. Works and communicates with others on vehicle repair status;
  4. Assists in decisions on repair vs. replace considering safety, cost and cycle time;
  5. Participates in all required safety meetings;
  6. Assists the lead body technician in task including but not limited to the list below:
    1. Vehicle Frame Repair
    2. MIG Welding
    3. Vehicle Structural Parts Repair & Replacement
    4. Plastic Repair
    5. Body work/panel repair
    6. Glass Replacement
    7. Mechanical Repairs


  1. Certification in body repair preferred;
  2. Knowledge of repair principles, techniques, and procedures;
  3. I-CAR certifications preferred;
  4. Must be able to pass thorough background check;

Additional Information

Physical Demands:

In this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to handle objects, tools, controls and office equipment.  The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel or crouch.  The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  The employee is required to read and interpret and follow processes and procedures.
